Icon of Jesus of Mercy Church of Divine Mercy….

In the church of the little village of Surmanci, just a few kilometers from Medjugorje, there is a miraculous icon of Jesus of Mercy. In 1990, Ugo Festo, who was seriously ill, was urged by Pope John Paul II to visit this icon and pray for a healing. The icon, at that time was located in the sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Trento. Ugo Festo prayed for three days before the icon of Jesus. On the fourth day, something unexplainable and extraordinary happened. Suddenly the picture became alive and Jesus held out His arms to Ugo.

Ugo’s body was filled with a very strong heat and Ugo was cured miraculously from multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and deformation of the spinal cord. At the request of the Archbishop of Split, the icon was sent to Split for an important procession for peace. Initially, the icon’s final destination was to remain in Medjugorje, in the Chapel of Adoration. However, the icon was transferred to the small church of Surmanci where it remains today.

In this church, besides the icon of Jesus of Mercy, there is a relic of St. Faustina. Fr. Glenn Sudano, CFR, will celebrate a private Holy Mass for our pilgrims in front of this miraculous icon.
