Highlights of Pilgrimage/Retreat

John Paul II Route Tour

Visit the birthplace of Pope Paul II, Wadowice

Visit to Gora Monastery

Pray before our Lady of Czestochowa icon, also known as the Black Madonna of Poland. The tradition is that this original icon was written by St. Luke on a table top from the house of the Holy Family. The icon was hidden in Jerusalem until it was found by St. Helena in 70 AD. The icon remained in Constantinople for about 500 years; then it was moved to the Ukraine. During a Moslem attack, the Christians decided to move the icon further West. Tradition has it that the horses refused to move when they reached Czestochowa in 1382. It was taken as a sign that icon should remain there in Czestochowa. Private tour of the Josna Gora Monastery and Mass.

Divine Mercy Sanctuary
